This documentary was filmed during the First Canadian Romani Congress and Symposium in Vancouver, May, 1998. It celebrates the vibrant culture and tenacious struggle of the Canadian Roma through Julia Lovell and her father Tom. The film portrays a young generation of Canadian Roma from many subgroups who claim their ancestral roots with pride while combating the myths and stereotypes that surround the "Gypsies." It also features Los Canasteros, a Canadian Flamenco group who recorded their first CD in 1998.
